How to Make Garlic Butter Steak with Pan-Fried Potatoes

Step 1: Prepare the Seasoning
In a small bowl, whisk together all of the seasoning ingredients. Remove two tablespoons of the mixture and set aside to season the potatoes.

Step 2: Season the Steak
Pat the steak dry on a cutting board and sprinkle it evenly with the remaining seasoning mix. Toss to coat the meat and set aside.

Step 3: Microwave the Potatoes
Place the cut potatoes in a microwave-safe dish and add ½ cup of water. Cover and microwave on high for 6-7 minutes or until the potatoes are just tender but still firm. Drain the potatoes and let them dry.

Step 4: Season and Fry the Potatoes
Drizzle the dried potatoes with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of the seasoning mix. Stir well to coat evenly.

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a 12-inch cast-iron skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the potatoes and cook for 1-2 minutes until they begin to brown. Flip the potatoes and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until they’re fork-tender. Once done, transfer them to a baking sheet and cover loosely with aluminum foil to keep warm. Wipe the skillet clean.

Step 5: Sear the Steak
Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in the same skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add half of the seasoned steak to the pan, spreading it out in a single layer. Sear for 2 minutes, flip the steak, and cook for another minute or until it reaches your desired level of doneness. Remove the steak from the skillet and set it aside. Wipe the skillet clean if necessary.

Step 6: Cook the Remaining Steak
Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil to the skillet. Once hot, add the remaining steak and sear it without stirring for 2 minutes. Stir the steak, then immediately add the butter, minced garlic, parsley, and thyme. Cook and stir for 1 minute, then remove the skillet from the heat.

Step 7: Combine and Serve
Return the potatoes to the skillet with the garlic butter steak, tossing everything together to coat the steak and potatoes evenly in the rich, flavorful butter sauce. Season with additional salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately, and enjoy!
